President's Message

Perry Elderbroom founded Gold in the Net in 1986 and has helped to evolve the goalie position into what you see today ever since. As the president and CEO of the company Perry continues to develop strategies and systems to assist the goalie in the modern game.

Since the early 1990s he has worked with national team goalies from overseas  and combined the best of his European and North American experience to help each individual find their key to success.  Perry has done transitional game constructions for Henrik Lundqvist, Kari Lehtonen, Antero Niittymaki and Fredrik Norrena while assisting other goalies such as Robin Lehner, Karri Ramo and Oscar Dansk.

Perry spent the 2008-2009 season as the goaltending coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL.  It was the most successful season ever for the Blue Jackets who made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.  The Blue Jackets goalies also set franchise records for goaltending statistics that season.  Freshman goaltender Steve Mason won the Calder Memorial Trophy  for Rookie of the Year. Under Perry's guidance, Mason was also nominated for the Vezina Trophy, which is awarded annually to the  best goaltender in the NHL.

Perry thoroughly enjoyed his time in Columbus during the 2008-2009 season.  However, given the growth and success of Gold in the Net he elected to remain at the helm of his own company and not return to Columbus.

“I have had the privilege of being involved in the game of hockey for most of my life.  I have been developing goalies and establishing Gold in the Net for more than 30 years, and I am both thankful and honored to work with and meet so many great people along the way,” Perry said.

"Because my only job is hockey and I've had the opportunity to work with goalies all over the world at different levels, I have managed to create the ultimate program for goalies everywhere.  For example, Gold in the Net has been taught in Finland for more than 25 years and I’m happy to say it has had a great impact on the way goalies are trained there. We have had an effect on numerous national team goalies throughout our time there while working with the Finnish federation,” said Perry.
