Our Hockey Clinics

Hockey in our communities has come a long way over the years, but what about the goaltenders? Are the goaltenders in your organization getting the attention they deserve? Most communities lack in this area, mainly due to a lack of knowledge or experience personnel who can teach and communicate not only with goaltenders but the coaches as well.

• Traveling Hockey Clinics

Traveling Hockey Clinics enable Gold in the Net to introduce its programs and concepts throughout Canada and the United States. By working closely with Minor Hockey Associations, it will allow aspiring goaltenders of all ages to attend a World Class Hockey School specializing in goaltending, right in their home rink.

Gold in the Net will travel to any Association interested in enhancing their goaltenders skills. Our basic program will consist of 8 hours of on ice instruction, 2 hours off ice instruction, with classroom lectures and video review. Using the Boni puck machine, we will ensure a good safe work out for goaltenders of all ages. A video camera will be used on the ice as a teaching aide for the classroom. The video will remain with the association afterwards to provide an insight as to the success of the clinic.

The program consists of the 8 hours of ice and the 2 hours of classroom lectures and video review. We use the coaches on the ice to help perform the drills and exercises, and welcomes them into the classroom, where, not only will they learn a variation of drills and exercises to keep their goaltending sharp, but more importantly, they also learn how to analyze and correct areas vital to their teams success.

What we require is ice time, a classroom, helpers and coaches. The 8 hours of ice needed should be broken up into 2 hour blocks over a two day period, with 1 hour lectures times, in the middle, schedules can be adjusted to meet the needs of the association. The cost of the Clinic is $1500.00 plus travel and accommodation expenses.

• Private Clinic

Private Clinic's are held throughout the hockey season and is unavailable during the summer months. This program offers an exclusive one on one private instruction to maximize the goaltender potential. Unlike other programs this program will center on the individual needs of the goaltender. An extensive evaluation checklist is implemented the first morning of training; some areas covered will be physical characteristics, and technical characteristics. This will enable the instructor to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the goaltender, thus being able to focus on the specific needs of that goaltender.

This program is for anyone with the dedication to be the best they can be weather it be at a junior level or a recreational hockey program. The goaltender must be committed with good mental and physical skills.

Some of the topics covered during the week will be, imagery, enhancing physical skills and psychological skills. Consistency, the key to consistent goaltending is healthy mental attitude, where concentration is maintained without distraction. Angles and positioning.

Typically 3 to 4 hours are spent each day on the ice, combined with the use of the Boni Puck Machine and Shooters this will ensure that all aspects of the instruction is covered. Contact the Gold in the Net office near you for availability and costs. (Not available in all locations)
