Finland Trip: Day One

29 April 1997

	It's a great day to travel. We leave the Comox Valley enroute to the airport in Vancouver. We will meet a few parents along the way. The rest will meet us at the airport.
B.C. Ferries provides the transportation to the mainland from Vancouver Island. A crossing of 1.5 hrs. A chance to make plans and meet a few fellow travelers.
	Both Moms and Dads are among the folks see there boys off to hockey school. The only regret, that they are not going along. We will promise to keep them both safe and in touch with home.
At Vancouver International airport the farewells are made and last minute questions answered. We understand we are being given responsibility for the most precious person in these mom's lives and will make every effort to as protective of there children. As parents ourselves, we can fully relate to a prenatal concern.
	"I think Perry is asleep, let's sneak up to first class and stretch out in those big recliner seats" Now you know why we chaperones sleep in shifts. The pleasure of traveling!
