Our Background & Philosophy
In 2006, Gold in The Net took another step towards setting yet another standard in the hockey school industry with the announcement and the introduction of the Gold in the Net Educational Scholarship in memory of Aaron C Cornwell. Gold in The Net believes that education is an important part of our youth’s development. With many families dedicating so much of the family resources to hockey, it is nice to know that there are programs like this to help out. Since its inception, more than $80,000.00 has been awarded to Gold in The Net students & instructors.
Each Gold in the Net hosts fundraisers in the form of Golf Tournament with dinner and silent auction.
GOLD IN THE NET EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
In Memory of Aaron C. Cornwell
Gold in the Net Educational Bursary Fund provides scholarships awarded to select students who have a positive outlook on life and who are leaders and role models in their schools and communities. We look to support those students who enjoy the game of hockey, demonstrate a balance lifestyle, and know the value of a post-secondary education.
Scholarship applications will be accepted from students who are currently enrolled in a full-time public post-secondary institution, or students in Grade 12 who are planning to pursue a full-time public post-secondary education. Scholarship are only open to Gold in the Net students and staff members, both past and present with 3 years involvement with Gold in the Net as a student and /or staff member.
Students who have previously received a Gold in the Net scholarship will not be eligible. Please note that scholarships cannot be deferred from one year to the next.
Aaron C. Cornwell
Gold in the Net is proud to be the founding sponsor of the Aaron C. Cornwell Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship annually awards Gold in the Net students and staff with bursaries in recognition of the dedication and commitment in the pursuit of hockey and academic achievement. In 2006 "The Gold in the Net Educational Scholarship Fund" held its very first annual golf tournament in support of the Aaron C. Cornwell Memorial Scholarship. 14 years later the GITN annual golf classic has provided some 78 Bursaries to deserving students and staff.
Each year on the first Saturday of May, Gold in the Net holds its annual golf and silent auction. This year we are pleased to announce the venue will be held at Eaglecrest Golf Club in Qualicum Beach, on beautiful Vancouver Island to help raise funds for the Scholarship Program.
